Kellogg Community College will officially welcome students back to campus for the Fall 2018 semester next week during the 15th annual Bruin Blast, the College’s annual fall kick-off event for students.

Bruin Blast will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, around the reflecting pools at the front of KCC’s campus at 450 North Ave., Battle Creek. The event is free and open to the public, but giveaways – including free lunch and free KCC T-shirts – and prize drawings will only be available to students with a current KCC ID.

This year’s theme is “summer cookout,” and KCC staff will be on hand grilling hot dogs and running yard games like cornhole, Jenga Giant and Yardzee. Also offered: an inflatable climbing wall and rides on a mechanical bull.

College staff, student leaders and representatives from various community organizations will also be on hand to provide information about KCC departments, student organizations and community resources.

This year’s event is also a collaboration with KCC’s Service-Learning office, and will encompass the College’s biannual Volunteer Fair. The Volunteer Fair provides KCC students, employees and community members alike access to additional community partners and nonprofit organizations to learn about volunteer opportunities in their communities.

In addition to the Sept. 18 Bruin Blast and Volunteer Fair events on the North Avenue campus, welcome events will also be held at KCC’s regional centers on the following dates:

  • 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at the Eastern Academic Center in Albion
  • 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Grahl Center in Coldwater
  • 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Fehsenfeld Center in Hastings
  • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Regional Manufacturing Technology Center in Battle Creek
