Kellogg Community College invites the public to participate in the College’s sixth annual Chili Cook-off to benefit the United Way.
The Chili Cook-off will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, in the Kellogg Room in the Student Center at KCC’s campus at 450 North Ave., Battle Creek. The event will include eight to 10 different chili recipes prepared by KCC employees. For $5, patrons can sample all of the chili and vote for their three favorite entries.
All money raised during the event will go to the United Way of the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region to support the organization’s 2018 fundraising campaign.
KCC campaign co-chairman Patrick Casey said the money helps fund parts of the United Way’s four major initiatives of education, income, health and basic needs, including:
- Improving regional graduation rates and reducing racial and economic disparities
- Helping households transition to economic stability
- Improving infant mortality rates in families of color and low-income families
- Ensuring a safety net of basic needs for people in crisis
KCC employees have participated in the United Way campaign on an organizational level for more than 25 years.
