Application deadline for KCC Dental Hygiene Program is March 1

Dental Hygiene students work in the College's Dental Hygiene Clinic.

The deadline to apply for Kellogg Community College’s Dental Hygiene Program beginning this fall is Sunday, March 1.

KCC’s two-year Dental Hygiene Program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and prepares graduates for licensure as Registered Dental Hygienists, licensed to clean teeth and perform dental exams at the direction of a dentist. Students spend a significant amount of time gaining hands-on experience by working in the College’s Dental Hygiene Clinic on campus in Battle Creek.

Completion of KCC’s Dental Hygiene Program results in an Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene and makes graduates eligible to take the National Dental Hygiene Board Examination and the regional American Board of Dental Examiners (ADEX) Dental Hygiene Examination, through which they can earn industry recognized professional credentials.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics lists the median pay for dental hygienists as $74,820 per year as of 2018 – the latest year data is available – projecting an 11% growth in the industry through 2028, which is much faster than average.

Admission to KCC’s Dental Hygiene Program is competitive, and just 20 students are admitted to the program during a limited open-application period each year.
