The Kellogg Community College women’s basketball team won its latest away game against Kalamazoo Valley Community College 67-40.
Leading for the Bruins were freshman Audrey DeWaters (Gull Lake), who had 17 points and 11 rebounds; freshman Taeshawn Roberson (Carl Schurz), with 17 points; sophomore Jessalynn Genier (Lakeview), with 15 points; freshman Gabby Costello (Bellevue), who had 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals; and sophomore Brianna Abercrombie (Pennfield), who had 16 rebounds.
“We jumped on them early, led 20-5 at the end of the first quarter and kept rolling in with a very impressive win for us,” said Head Women’s Basketball Coach Dic Doumanian. “The team shot the ball well and rebounded even better. We are back home Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip-off against Glen Oaks. Go Lady Bruins!”
The Bruins’ recent victory brings the team’s overall season record so far to 13-9; the team’s conference record is 7-4.
The team’s next match is home on campus in Battle Creek at the Miller Gym. Tip-off is at 1 p.m Saturday, Feb. 8, versus GOCC. Admission to all KCC athletic events is free.
