The Kellogg Community College women’s basketball team dominated at its latest home game. The Bruins’ strong performance kept them at third place in the conference. They won 84-43 against Glen Oaks Community College on Saturday.
Leading for the Bruins were sophomore Jess Genier (Lakeview), who had 17 points and 7 rebounds; freshman Taeshawn Roberson (Carl Schurz), with 17 points; freshman Lexi Parsons (Delton Kellogg), with 16 points and 6 rebounds; freshman Modaina Angus (Bellevue), who had 13 points and 14 rebounds; sophomore Brianna Abercrombie (Pennfield), with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists; and freshman Gabby Costello (Bellevue), who had 8 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals.
“Another overall strong team performance from start to finish in this one. We dominated the game at both ends of the court to remain at third place in the conference,” said Head Women’s Basketball Coach Dic Doumanian. “After being on the road this coming Wednesday, KCC returns home on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m. to take on first place Mid-Michigan. Go Lady Bruins!”
The Bruins’ recent win brings the team’s overall season record so far to 15-9; the team’s conference record is 8-4.
The team’s next match is away Wednesday, Feb. 12. Tip off is at 5:30 p.m. in Benton Harbor against Lake Michigan College.
