KCC's 2019-20 men's basketball team.

The Kellogg Community College men’s basketball team won at its latest home game against Grand Rapids Community College 82-79 on Monday.

Leading for the Bruins were freshman Tahveayr Boykins, who had 32 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals; sophomore Gregorye Windom, who had 13 points; sophomore Jamari Thomas-Newell, who had 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists; freshman Dashaan Palmer, who had 10 points; and freshman Larry Patrick, with 4 blocked shots.

“The Bruins shot an abysmal 19% from 3-point land but managed to squeak out a 3-point win,” said Men’s Head Basketball Coach Gary Sprague. “Fortunately the defense forced 20 turnovers leading to 15 points. The Bruins finish the regular season this Wednesday with a 5:30 p.m. home game against second-place Ancilla College.”

The win brings the Bruins’ overall record for the season so far to 12-16; the team’s conference record is 9-8.

The team’s next match is tonight at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 26, against Ancilla College. The game will be held at the Miller Gym located on the North Avenue campus in Battle Creek. Admission to all home KCC athletic events is free.
