The Kellogg Community College women’s basketball team lost its latest home game 71-62 against Grand Rapids Community College on Monday.
Leading for the Bruins were sophomore Jess Genier, who had 20 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals, and freshman Audrey DeWaters, who had 18 points, 14 rebounds, 4 blocked shots and 2 steals.
Head Women’s Basketball Coach Dic Doumanian said the loss means KCC will play on the road next Tuesday in the first round of the tournament.
“Our final regular season game is 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, where we will honor our two sophomores, Jessalynn Genier and Brianna Abercrombie, who have been two-year starters for us and really helped change the direction of the program,” Doumanian said. “Please come out and help us honor them. The ceremony will be immediately after the men’s game.”
The Bruins’ recent loss brings the team’s overall season record so far to 15-13; the team’s conference record is 9-8.
The team’s next match is tonight at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 26, against Ancilla College. The game will be held at the Miller Gym located on the North Avenue campus in Battle Creek. Admission to all home KCC athletic events is free.
