Kellogg Community College’s Lifelong Learning Department offers classes and workshops across a variety of subject areas for personal enrichment, without the pressure of homework, tests or grades.

Below is a list of upcoming cooking classes offered via KCC’s Lifelong Learning Department. All classes will be held at the location indicated on KCC’s campus at 450 North Ave. in Battle Creek.

St. Patrick’s Day Cupcake Shenanigans!

1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 17

Let’s celebrate the luck of the Irish! In this St. Patrick’s Day themed cupcake class, you will learn all the basic skills you need to bake and decorate your cupcakes to look as professional as the cupcakes on Pinterest! Your instructor will supply you with everything you need to create your edible masterpieces while learning different piping techniques. This decorating class is casual and fun, and no previous decorating experience is needed. *Please note: The product made in class may differ from the promotional image displayed above.

Easy Homemade Artisan Bread

6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 18

Mmm, warm bread on a cold March night might be one of the best things in the world! If you like bread that has a thin crust, a large crumb, full flavor and no kneading required, then you’ll love this class. Your instructor will demonstrate how you can start with a “poolish” that develops overnight in a Dutch oven. Pop it into a hot oven and within a short time you’ll have warm, comforting and delectable artisan bread. Plus, we’ll share some delightful butter spread recipes that you’ll get to taste in class. The workshop fee includes all food items, recipes and tasting samples.

Chocolate Heaven: Truffle-Making Made Easy

We love chocolate — all kinds of chocolate! Truffles look fancy, yet are easy to make, and we’re here to show you how. Discover simple ways to make these rich, chocolatey delicacies. After just one class session, you’ll be making truffles for all your special occasions — to celebrate or give as gifts! We’ll make five different recipes and you’ll take home your own box of homemade truffles to enjoy with friends and family. The workshop fee includes all food items, recipes and tasting samples.

Lemon Cheese for Summer Delight

6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 22

Join the Cheese Guy and discover how easy it is to make a delicious, bright and summery cheese to enjoy during the warm weather months. Lemon cheese is a creamy, spreadable cheese with a light, lemony flavor, and it’s so easy to make! You’ll leave class with your own batch of amazing lemon cheese. Grab the crackers and crudité, this is the perfect choice to go with your summer fare! The workshop fee includes all food items, recipes and tasting samples.

Push Pop Cakes: Spring & Summer Creations

6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 5

Join the fun and discover sparkling, creative and beautiful ways to prepare and serve divine desserts. In this hands-on class you’ll find how easy these single-serving treats are to make. They also make great gifts, staying fresh and traveling well — perfect for making ahead for picnic season. We’ll create a variety of summertime flavors and you’ll leave with a dozen push pop cakes to share with friends and family. The workshop fee includes all food items, recipes and tasting samples.
