Kellogg Community College announced today it will serve as a Frontliners Champion to support the Futures for Frontliners program unveiled by Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
“We believe strongly that those who worked in essential jobs during the state shutdown this past spring so that the rest of us could stay safe are heroes and deserve our thanks,” said Dr. Adrien L. Bennings, president of KCC.
“Providing these frontline workers in essential industries with access to tuition-free community college to pursue their career and personal dreams is a wonderful way to say thank you,” Dr. Bennings said.
As a Frontliners Champion, KCC has committed to making sure employees in the College’s service area – Barry, Branch and Calhoun counties – know about this opportunity.
Futures for Frontliners offers Michiganders who worked in essential industries during the April 1 through June 30 period – but who do not have a college degree – free resident-rate tuition to their local community college to pursue an associate degree or a skills certificate on a full-time or part-time basis while they continue to work.
Those without a high school diploma or equivalency are eligible for services to help them prepare for and complete this credential and go on to a community college or job training program. The application period runs through Dec. 31, 2020, with enrollment available beginning in January 2021. KCC’s Spring 2021 semester begins on Jan. 19, 2021.

In addition to applying for the Futures for Frontliners program through the State of Michigan, anyone interested in attending KCC also should submit an admissions application at KCC and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
