In-person instruction for all Industrial Trades students will resume starting Feb. 1 at Kellogg Community College’s Regional Manufacturing Technology Center.

The RMTC, located in the Fort Custer Industrial Park at 405 Hill Brady Road in Battle Creek, is home to the College’s Industrial Trades and manufacturing programs, as well as various workforce training initiatives. In-person instruction has been suspended at the facility since mid-November, when KCC announced its latest round of major campus restrictions meant to reduce and mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Industrial Trades Education Director Kimberlee Andrews-Bingham said in keeping with precautionary measures recommended by state and federal health officials, all safety measures that were in place when labs were closed in November will be maintained throughout the spring semester.

“This includes, but is not limited to, mask requirements onsite, temperature and symptom checks upon arrival, social distancing and students working with program faculty to book lab time by appointment,” Andrews-Bingham said.

Beginning Feb. 1, RMTC labs will be open to students from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays. HVAC, Industrial Technology, Pipefitting and Welding labs only will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays.

Students can register for program modules online on the KCC website or register in-person at the RMTC during regular business hours. Industrial Trades students attending satellite sites in Barry and Branch counties should contact those sites directly for more information about lab availability at those locations.
