The choirs of Kellogg Community College are back this fall and accepting new members for the 2021-22 concert season.
KCC choirs seeking new members – students and community members alike – include the Branch County Community Chorus, based in Coldwater, and the Kellogg Singers, based in Battle Creek.
BCCC members will rehearse each Tuesday evening Sept. 14 through May, while Kellogg Singers will rehearse on Monday and Wednesday afternoons beginning Sept. 13.
Dr. Gerald Case-Blanchard, director of Vocal Arts at KCC and coordinator of the College’s music programming, directs both choral groups with Nancy D. Brown as accompanist. Case-Blanchard said there are openings available in each ensemble for all voice parts.
There is no formal audition process required to join the BCCC or the Kellogg Singers, but prospective choir members are asked to meet with the director for a vocal assessment prior to the start of the rehearsal process. This is merely a vocal placement assessment to ensure that each singer is in the correct voicing.
Choir members may join either choir as a student for college credit or for personal enrichment on a noncredit basis. All members can register for choir via the standard registration process via the Bruin Portal; noncredit courses are designated with a “C” in their course number. Details about the registration process are on the KCC website at kellogg.edu/registration.
