Kellogg Community College’s women’s volleyball team played its last match of the season against Lake Michigan College on Oct. 28.
The Bruins gave their best go against LMC, who played with vitality and skill. In the second set, they came close to a win with a score of 23-25.
Scores per set were as follows:
- Set 1: LMC 25, KCC 15
- Set 2: LMC 25, KCC 23
- Set 3: LMC 25, KCC 19
Head KCC Volleyball Coach Tom VanWienen said that they are looking forward to putting in time in the offseason and that the new recruits lined up for next year look promising.
“[Losing in three sets was] not the way that we wanted our season to end,” VanWienen said. “LMC played well and with a lot of energy. It was a long week for us playing three matches in a row and we just didn’t have enough left in the tank. The record won’t reflect how much this team has grown this year or how hard we played in big matches that we fell just a bit short on winning.”
VanWienen also said, “Thank you to our fans for following us. It was great to see people in the stands at away matches and on numerous occasions other coaches and players have raved at how awesome our home-game atmospheres were. A special shout out to our baseball and basketball teams that came to watch and cheer on the ladies. Love the banner fellas!”
Friday’s results gave the Bruins a final conference record of 2-12 and a final overall record of 3-21.
