The deadline to apply for Kellogg Community College’s Dental Hygiene Program beginning the Fall 2022 semester is Tuesday, March 1.
KCC’s two-year Dental Hygiene Program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and prepares graduates for licensure as Registered Dental Hygienists, licensed to clean teeth and perform dental exams under the direction of a dentist. Students spend a significant amount of time gaining hands-on experience by working in the College’s Dental Hygiene Clinic on campus in Battle Creek, which was newly renovated in 2021.
Completion of KCC’s Dental Hygiene Program results in an Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene and makes graduates eligible to take the National Dental Hygiene Board Examination and the regional American Board of Dental Examiners (ADEX) Dental Hygiene Examination, through which they can earn industry recognized professional credentials.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics lists the median pay for dental hygienists as $77,090 per year as of 2020 – the latest year data is available – projecting an 11% growth in the industry through 2030, which is much faster than average.
Admission to KCC’s Dental Hygiene Program is competitive, and the College admits up to 20 students to the program each year. For more information about the program, visit kellogg.edu/dentalhygiene. Additional information also is available by contacting KCC’s Selective Admissions office at seladm@kellogg.edu or 269-565-2625.
A comprehensive video information session about the Dental Hygiene Program, facilitated by KCC Dental Hygiene Education and Clinic Director Dr. David Smith, can be viewed on the College’s YouTube channel at youtube.com/watch?v=dlQuMkF2H3E.
