Kellogg Community College’s Battle Creek based Kellogg Singers residential choir is accepting new members for its 2022-23 concert season.

Everyone is welcome in the group, which is a non-auditioned mixed ensemble that can be joined for personal enrichment or academic credit. The ensemble is led by Director Dr. Gerald Case-Blanchard, professor of vocal music and music area coordinator at KCC, and principal accompanist Nancy D. Brown.

Rehearsals will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from Sept. 7 through Dec. 14, in Room 210 (the choir room) of the Davidson Visual and Performing Arts Center on campus at 450 North Ave. in Battle Creek.

The ensemble is designated as MUSI C105: Kellogg Singers (for community members joining for personal enrichment) or MUSI 105: Kellogg Singers (for students joining for one academic credit) in KCC’s online registration system. For more information about signing up for the group, contact Case-Blanchard at case-blanchardg@kellogg.edu or 269-565-7859 or visit kellogg.edu/kelloggsingers.

Although the Kellogg Singers is a residential choral ensemble, the choir regularly performs on and off campus and tours biannually. Tours in recent years have taken the choir throughout the U.S. and internationally on tours through Ireland and Italy. The Kellogg Singers ensemble has also collaborated with notable organizations including the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, the Monroe Community Chorale and Symphony Orchestra and the Kalamazoo Sacred Music Festival, and has opened for Grammy Award-winning groups Take 6 and Sweet Honey in the Rock.

While there is no formal audition process required to join the group, prospective Kellogg Singers members will have a brief a vocal assessment and interview with Director Case-Blanchard prior to the start of rehearsals. The registration and vocal placement processes are informal and low-pressure; anyone is welcome to join the ensemble regardless of musical background or experience.

All voice parts – soprano, alto, tenor and bass – are needed.
