Center for Student Success offering free English and Technology bootcamps to prepare students for the spring semester

Want to improve your writing and technology skills?

The Center for Student Success at Kellogg Community College is offering free English and Technology bootcamps to help prepare students for spring semester classes.

The bootcamps consist of a mix of lectures and hands-on practice. All bootcamps will be held in the Ohm Information Technology Center on campus at 450 North Ave. in Battle Creek, and students should register in advance via the Bruin Portal (the workshops are designated WOSH in the system).

English Bootcamp

The English Bootcamp will teach students how to write a basic essay and will cover the steps of the writing process, including brainstorming, creating strong thesis statements, outlining, writing and revising. Upcoming English Bootcamps will be offered at the following times:

  • 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Jan. 10, in Ohm 105 (WOSH-C151-1201)
  • 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, in Ohm 105 (WOSH-C151-1250)

Technology Bootcamp

The Technology Bootcamp will teach students how to use technology effectively for classes. The workshop will cover the modes of communication students will need to use at KCC (including the internet, email and Microsoft Teams), as well as document creation and management through Microsoft Office and OneDrive. The Technology Bootcamp will be offered at the following times:

  • 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, in Ohm 103 (WOSH-C160-1250)
  • 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, in Ohm 103 (WOSH-C160-1201)
