KCC bowling teams open 2023 season

The Kellogg Community College bowling season opened Jan. 6 and includes four additional regular season invitational competitions before postseason play begins in February.

The men’s team includes a roster of five including four returners. Zachary Barker (Olivet/Olivet High School), Bryan Foote (Bronson/Bronson High School) and Colin McDowell (Marshall/Olivet High School) each earned National Junior College Athletic Association All-Region XII and All-Michigan Community College Athletic Association awards last season.

Rounding out the men’s roster are returning sophomore Robert Burns (Marshall/Marshall High School) and new freshman Ryan Sturgeon (Coldwater/Coldwater High School).

The women’s team also features a roster of five including returning sophomores Eleanor McAllister (Kalamazoo/Comstock High School) and Emma O’Donnell (Battle Creek/Pennfield High School), who together finished second in the doubles competition at the NJCAA Region XII Tournament in 2022.

Rounding out the women’s roster are freshmen Abigail Grimm (Climax/Homer High School), Brianna Pawloski (Olivet/Olivet High School) and Isabela Liebana (Battle Creek/Lakeview High School), who came to Battle Creek during high school as an exchange student from Brazil.

The Bruins opened the season Jan. 6 with an invitational hosted by Marian University’s Ancilla College in Indiana, where the men’s team placed second and the women’s team placed fifth. The teams return to the lanes for another invitational competition Friday, Jan. 13, in Muskegon.
