Kellogg Community College is seeking applicants for a Retail Service Training Program starting in May, offered at no cost for Battle Creek residents who meet income guidelines.
The training program, offered through KCC’s Innovative Accelerated Credentialed Training (iACT) initiative, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays from May 15 through Aug. 3 at the Woman’s Co-op, located at 2055 East Columbia Ave. in Battle Creek. Experiential service-learning opportunities for students will be available at Goodwill, Habitat for Humanity and Kohl’s locations in Battle Creek.
KCC’s iACT Retail Service Training prepares students to manage the daily operations of the retail industry, as well as workplace essential skills in demand with area employers.
The program training includes:
- Workplace essential skills and technical training
- Career coaches to help with goal setting, academic advising, barrier removal and job placement
- Financial literacy training
- Built-in work-based learning activities
- Exposure to retail settings and careers
- Industry recognized credentials
- A free laptop
- Gas or bus cards to assist students with transportation costs
Students can also earn the WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate through their coursework.
Deadlines and Eligibility
Individuals interested in participating in the Retail Service Training Program offered via KCC’s iACT initiative must contact KCC at 269-565-2828 or complete the information form online at kellogg.edu/iact by 5 p.m. Friday, April 14. Space is limited and fills up quickly.
The training program is offered at no cost to Battle Creek residents who meet income guidelines. Participants must be at least 18 years of age, provide a high school transcript or GED, complete the Accuplacer Next Generation Reading test with a score of 244 or higher and be able to attend the training for extended hours.
