Kellogg Community College will hold open theatre auditions this month for a dozen roles in the comedic musical “Firebringer.”
First produced by innovative theatre company StarKid Productions in 2016, the show follows a prehistoric tribe of cavepeople as they navigate the discovery of fire.
Auditions, which are free and open to the general public as well as KCC students, will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Sept. 28 and 29, at the Binda Performing Arts Center, on campus at 450 North Ave. in Battle Creek. Participants should plan on attending the entire session on one of the audition dates.
KCC Theatre professor and Theatre Program Coordinator Brad Poer said auditions will consist of dancing, singing and cold-read acting, with all three levels aimed at being approachable for all skill and experience levels.
For detailed audition information, including descriptions of each role, visit the KCC Theatre Facebook page at facebook.com/KCCTheatre or contact Poer at poerb@kellogg.edu.
The cast list will be posted by noon Tuesday, Oct. 3, at the Davidson Visual and Performing Arts Center on campus, and the first rehearsal will run from 7 to 9:30 p.m. that night.
Cast members must be available to rehearse at least three to four nights per week during rehearsals, which will run from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays starting Oct 3, as well as final tech and dress rehearsals in November.
The cast will also be required to participate in all six weekend performances in November, including shows at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Nov. 10, 11, 17 and 18, and shows at 3 p.m. Sundays, Nov. 12 and 19, at the Binda.
All participants selected for a role must be at least 18 years old by Nov. 10, the date of the first performance.
Ticket reservations can be made through the KCC Theatre Box Office at 269-965-4154 starting Oct. 30.
