Kellogg Community College and Davenport University leaders today announced a strategic partnership aimed at facilitating a seamless educational journey for students.
The agreement, signed today, Tuesday, Sept. 26, on KCC’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek, paves the way for a smooth transition for students seeking to transfer from KCC to Davenport to pursue their bachelor’s degree without losing credits or time.
This articulation agreement builds upon the strengths of both institutions, leveraging their combined resources and expertise to create an educational pathway that benefits students throughout the region. Presidents of both institutions agree that aligning their programs and streamlining the transfer process makes sense for students pursuing degrees in the state.
“The partnership with Davenport is a perfect example of Kellogg Community College’s mission to empower students,” KCC President Paul R. Watson II said. “Aligning our institutions for the easy transfer of credits provides our students with enhanced opportunities for academic and career advancement and reflects our dedication to helping students achieve their education and career goals.”
The agreement is designed to maximize credits transferred and to minimize duplication of coursework for students moving from KCC to Davenport. All transfer students will receive a transfer scholarship from Davenport, ranging from $4,500 to $6,500.
“This collaboration with Kellogg Community College exemplifies our joint commitment to student success and access to a quality education,” Davenport President Richard J. Pappas said. “It’s part of our ongoing support of the state’s community colleges and the students who begin there but need a bachelor’s degree from Davenport to maximize their future opportunities.”
This agreement between Davenport University and Kellogg Community College underscores the importance of collaboration in higher education. Together, these institutions are setting a precedent for creating more accessible and efficient pathways for students to earn degrees, advance in careers and provide talent to businesses and nonprofits in the region.
Davenport’s Associate Degree to Bachelor Degree Completion articulation plans (A2B plans) are different from other four-year colleges and universities. The Davenport plans are uniquely designed to accept and apply the students’ entire associate degree to a similar bachelor’s degree at DU. And even after the completion of their associate degree, KCC students can take additional courses at KCC and transfer up to a total of 90 credit hours toward the Davenport bachelor’s degree.
