The deadline to apply for Kellogg Community College’s Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program is Friday, April 5.
Students admitted to the PTA Program will begin classes on Aug. 26.
KCC’s PTA Program prepares graduates to become licensed PTAs who work under the direction of a physical therapist to provide therapy services to patients with health-related conditions to help them live fuller and more productive lives.
Completion of KCC’s PTA Program results in an Associate of Applied Science in PTA degree and prepares graduates to take the National Physical Therapist Assistant Examination required for licensure in most states.
KCC’s PTA Program was the first program in the state of Michigan and the sixth program in the nation, with the first class graduating in 1973.
The program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) and consists of five academic semesters, including a summer semester. Coursework includes general education and hands-on technical PTA courses offered in a traditional classroom format on campus, as well as clinical PTA courses offered in a variety of clinical physical therapy settings off campus.
Graduates of KCC’s PTA Program in 2021 and 2022 surveyed by the College had a 92% licensure exam pass rate and a 100% employment rate for graduates seeking a position in the field.
Admission to KCC’s PTA Program is competitive, and 30 students are admitted to the program during the application period each year.
