Eight KCC basketball players earn postseason athletic awards

Eight Kellogg Community College basketball players earned postseason athletic awards from the Michigan Community College Athletic Association and/or National Junior College Athletic Association for their performance on the court this season.

The women’s basketball team, led by second-year Head Coach Sal Konkle, won its first MCCAA Western Conference title since 2007, wrapping up the season in the second round of postseason play with an overall record of 21-6.

KCC women’s basketball postseason award winners include:

  • Sophomore forward Shayla Ardis (Battle Creek/Battle Creek Central High School), MCCAA Third Team All-Western Conference
  • Freshman guard Kaylee Glidden (Battle Creek/Pennfield High School), NJCAA Third Team All-American, NJCAA Region XII Division II All-Region Team, NJCAA Region XII District A All-Tournament Team, All-MCCAA Team, MCCAA First Team All-Western Conference, MCCAA Western Conference All-Freshman Team
  • Sophomore guard Corrin Replogle (Middleville/Thornapple Kellogg High School), MCCAA Second Team All-Western Conference
  • Sophomore guard/forward Mary Whitmore (Dowling/Delton Kellogg High School), MCCAA Third Team All-Western Conference

Glidden finished the season ranked third in the nation for points per game with 23.7 points per game.

The men’s basketball team, led by second-year Head Coach Steve Proefrock, finished third in the MCCAA Western Conference and also finished out the season in postseason play with an overall record of 21-6. It’s the third consecutive year the men’s team has made the postseason, and the first time since 2007 – for both the men’s and women’s team – that the Bruins finished regular-season play with 20 wins.

  • Freshman guard Jakeem Cole (Chicago/Perspectives High School), MCCA Third Team All-Western Conference, MCCAA Western Conference Freshman Team
  • Sophomore forward/center Sam Hoskin (Detroit/Renaissance High School), MCCA Second Team All-Western Conference
  • Sophomore forward James M. Isaiah Moore (Three Rivers/Three Rivers High School), MCCAA Honorable Mention All-Western Conference
  • Freshman guard Ke’Marion Tucker (Battle Creek/Battle Creek Central High School), MCCA Second Team All-Western Conference, MCCAA Western Conference Freshman Team
