KCC seeks applicants for free Forklift and Workplace Safety Training program for eligible Battle Creek residents

Kellogg Community College is seeking applicants for an eight-week Forklift and Workplace Safety Training Program starting in October, offered at no cost for Battle Creek residents who meet income guidelines.

The training program, offered through KCC’s Innovative Accelerated Credentialed Training (iACT) initiative, will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays from Oct. 7 through Dec. 5 at KCC’s Regional Manufacturing Technology Center campus, located at 405 Hill Brady Road.

KCC’s Forklift and Workplace Safety Training Program will provide students with the knowledge, experience and safety standards required to operate a forklift without risk of injury or damage. Coursework will focus on technical and professional skills including workplace safety, communication, problem-solving and teamwork.

The training includes:

  • Forklift and workplace success coursework and learning activities
  • Career coaches to help with goal setting, academic advising, barrier removal and job placement
  • Financial literacy training
  • Resume and job-interview training

Students can also earn the following credentials through the training:

  • Lockout/Tagout Certification
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certification

Deadlines and Eligibility

Individuals interested in participating in the Forklift and Workplace Safety Training Program offered via KCC’s iACT initiative must contact KCC at 269-565-2828 or complete the information form online at kellogg.edu/iact by 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29. Space is limited and the training program generally fills up quickly, so interested applicants are encouraged to inquire early.

The program is open at no cost to Battle Creek residents who meet income guidelines. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and must be able to attend the training for extended hours daily for the duration of the program.
