The program training includes:

  • Financial literacy training
  • Built-in work-based learning activities

Students can also earn the WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate and eight college credits as part of their training, including four credits for completing CRJU 130: Introduction to Corrections and four credits for completing OIT 130: Office Procedures/Keyboarding 1.

Workforce Solutions Program Manager Tricia Griggs said, “Corrections Connect training seeks to create a bridge from education into actual employment for those interested in high-paying career in a criminal justice/corrections profession.”

The MDOC requires corrections officers in the state to earn 15 college credits within a certain number of months from their hiring date to maintain employment.
