Ask any prospective student why they aren’t attending college and chief among their reasons is often some form of: it’s expensive. But an increasing number of opportunities offered via local, state and federal funding are making a college education more affordable than ever.
The Community College Guarantee
Starting this fall, the Community College Guarantee allows eligible students who graduated as part of the Class of 2023 or later to pursue an associate degree or skill certificate at their local community college tuition-free.
The Community College Guarantee covers up to the total cost of in-district tuition and mandatory fees and also provides an additional $1,000 bonus award for Pell-eligible students to use toward additional college costs.
All eligible students have to do to qualify is fill out the latest Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Students ages 21 to 24 should apply as soon as possible, as the state’s offering to this age group is only anticipated to last through December; until last fall the program was only open to students ages 25 and up.
