KCC to host African drum and dance performances by Rootead Feb. 13

Rootead dancers perform in the Student Center in 2024.

Black History Month events continue at KCC Feb. 13 with two free African drum and dance performances by Kalamazoo’s Rootead youth dance troupe.

Rootead’s African drum and dance performances will begin at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, in the Student Center on campus at 450 North Ave. in Battle Creek. (The performances will be the same with an intermission between; attendees can view one or both depending on their schedule.)

The performances, which are free and open to the public, will celebrate youth empowerment and community healing through spirited demonstrations featuring West African dance and djembe drumming.
