Kellogg Community College invites area high school students to participate in a morning of hands-on art experiences via series of art workshops next month on campus.
KCC’s High School Art Workshops event will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, at KCC’s Davidson Visual and Performing Arts Center, on campus at 450 North Ave. in Battle Creek. The event is free and includes a pizza and salad bar lunch as well as a swag bag including KCC giveaways related to the arts.
Workshops will be led by KCC arts faculty and held in College art labs at the Davidson Center, where students will get hands-on experience using various art materials in discipline-specific workshops including:
- Ceramics
- Darkroom photography
- Drawing and painting
- Graphic design
Faculty and advisors will also be on hand to answer any questions about arts programming at KCC, including about the College’s new Associate in Fine Arts degree programs launching this fall.
Interested individuals must RSVP by Thursday, March 6, by emailing Art Professor Heather Stratton at strattonh@kellogg.edu. Space is limited and filling fast, so participants are encouraged to sign up as early as possible.
This opportunity is open only for high school students and their teachers or chaperones. Individuals signing up do not need an accompanying teacher or chaperone, though one is encouraged for groups of five or more coming together from a single school. Home school and alternative education students are particularly encouraged to participate.
