Kellogg Community College is among the top 2.5% of community colleges nationwide, according to the latest annual ranking by financial services company WalletHub.
KCC ranks second out of 23 colleges ranked in Michigan and 16th out of 653 total institutions ranked across the country in the company’s list of “Best & Worst Community Colleges (2025),” released Aug. 12.
WalletHub created the list to provide prospective students with an at-a-glance comparison of various institutions’ quality and affordability, “to determine where students can receive the best education at the lowest price,” according to the report.
The researchers evaluated community colleges on 18 metrics across three dimensions: Cost & Financing, Education Outcomes, and Career Outcomes. Metrics included the cost of in-state tuition and fees; the presence of free community-college education initiatives; student-to-faculty ratios; graduation rates; median salaries of students after attending; and others.

“This excellent state and U.S. ranking affirms Kellogg Community College’s ongoing commitment to excellence, opportunity and student success,” KCC President Dr. Paul Watson said. “We are proud to stand among the top colleges in the nation, offering an affordable, high-quality education that equips our students to achieve their goals and fuels growth, opportunity and resilience in the communities we serve.”
The WalletHub ranking is bolstered by MI School Data reports for more than a decade that continue to show that KCC is the No. 1 college in the region: More high school graduates in Barry, Branch and Calhoun counties choose to begin their higher education pursuits at KCC than at any other college or university.
