Kalamazoo artist Aerick B.’s “Art for the Future” exhibit on display Sept. 8-Oct. 16 at KCC

Kellogg Community College will exhibit nearly 100 works spanning mediums ranging from origami to multimedia art by Kalamazoo artist Aerick B. in September and October.

The exhibit, titled “Aerick B. for Precedent: Art for the Future,” will run Sept. 8 through Oct. 16 in the Davidson Visual and Performing Arts Center’s Eleanor R. and Robert A. DeVries Gallery, on campus at 450 North Ave. in Battle Creek.

The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular gallery hours, which are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays.

An opening reception with the artist – also free and open to the public – will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, in the gallery.

Aerick B. is an artist and curator based in Kalamazoo who is known for pushing creative boundaries through a diverse range of mediums including photography, graphic design, fiber arts and sculpture.

“Aerick B for Precedent: Art for the Future” presents 95 works including origami, photography and multimedia.

Celebrated for his captivating and innovative approach to origami and paper sculpting, Aerick B.’s work can be characterized as “a unique and impactful integration of traditional and contemporary techniques,” according to a statement provided by the artist.

His artwork often transcends genres while exploring themes of beauty, struggle and the interconnectedness of all things. He is passionate about fostering a vibrant and inclusive art community and, as a curator, champions inclusivity by elevating the voices of underrepresented artists through diverse and thought-provoking exhibitions.
