The Kellogg Community College Foundation raised a record of more than $203,000 via the College’s 28th annual Bruin Scholarship Open this month in Battle Creek.
The fundraising event, held Sept. 5 at Binder Park Golf Course, was a tremendous success, eclipsing last year’s previous record total of $137,000 by $66,000 to support scholarships for KCC new, returning and graduating KCC students.
Michelle Williamson, executive director of the KCC Foundation, said much appreciation goes to the many sponsors, KCC employees, student scholarship recipients, student athletes and other volunteers who again made this year’s event one of the best and most successful events of its kind in the region.
“We are continually inspired by the generosity of our sponsors and community partners who believe in the power of education,” Williamson said. “Every dollar raised through the Bruin Scholarship Open goes directly to support KCC students, helping remove financial barriers so they can focus on their studies and achieve their goals.”
Since 1998, the Bruin Open has raised more than $2 million to help support hundreds of students pursue their education.
