Kellogg Community College Agricultural Science student Arinn Wing, 18, of Bellevue, is a 2025 graduate of Bellevue High School, a Gold Key Scholar and a member KCC’s Alpha Nu Eta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
Why did you choose your major/area of study?
I chose this area of study because I grew up on a farm and I want to help farmers improve their lot in life. I can stay close to home and still get a good education that will carry me into the future of farming.
Why did you choose to study your major specifically at KCC?
I chose to study specifically at KCC because it was close to my house and it didn’t cost as much as the same degree at MSU.
What’s been your favorite part of your time at KCC, and why?
The people. I have a lot of the same classes with the same people in them so I have been able to get to know people and make connections that I know will last a lifetime.
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned at KCC?
The most interesting thing I’ve learned at KCC is probably that the nicest place to study is under the stairs in the Schwarz Building. You would think it’s in the library, but for me it’s under the stairs away from people.
What is your goal for after you graduate from KCC? What do you hope to do for a career?
After I graduate from KCC my goal is to transfer to MSU and get my bachelor’s degree in agronomy so that I can become an agronomist, which is a soil scientist.
What advice do you have for current or future KCC students?
You might think it will be easy and that you don’t need to work hard, but when you get a bad grade because you didn’t study you will realize that you should have actually tried in the “easy” class.
