Second-year Kellogg Community College Radiography student Joana Patricia Hinkley, 37, of Battle Creek, graduates from the Radiography Program this spring.
Why did you choose your major/area of study?
I chose the Radiography Program because it combines health care and technology, and it still lets me work directly with patients. I like that being a radiologic technologist helps doctors diagnose and treat patients, and I want to be part of that.
Why did you choose to study your major specifically at KCC?
Because KCC is known for having strong and reputable Allied Health programs.
What’s been your favorite part of your time at KCC, and why?
My favorite part of my time at KCC has been the supportive instructors and hands-on learning, because it has helped me grow more confident and prepared for my future career.
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned at KCC?
That KCC offers a wide range of support services and resources that help students succeed in their chosen field.
What is your goal for after you graduate from KCC? What do you hope to do for a career?
After I graduate from KCC, I plan to become a licensed radiologic technologist and start working in a health care setting where I can gain experience and continue learning.
What advice do you have for current or future KCC students?
My advice for current and future KCC students is to stay organized, manage your time well and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Use the support and resources KCC offers, stay motivated and remember why you started.
Applications for KCC’s Radiography Program beginning the Fall 2026 semester are due May 21. See details, application materials and more at kellogg.edu/radi-admissions.
