Kellogg Community College has again been recognized as one of the best colleges in the United States to work for, according to the Great Colleges to Work For program.
The Great Colleges to Work For recognition, released Sept. 18 at greatcollegesprogram.com, is the product of a 2026 survey open to all accredited institutions in the United States with an enrollment of at least 500.
KCC is the only college in Michigan recognized with the honor and is one of just six institutions honored in the Great Lakes region, which includes Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin.
Additionally, KCC is among just 22 of the total 76 colleges and universities honored among the 2026 Great Colleges to Work For nationwide that are two-year institutions, according to the organization.
Great Colleges to Work For awards honors across 10 recognition categories, and KCC won honors in the “Compensation & Benefits” category.
According to Great Colleges, the “Compensation & Benefits” honor is based on the perception among employees that they are compensated fairly and that benefits are adequate, contributing to a feeling that employees feel valued and respected at KCC.
The Great Colleges to Work For program, now in its 19th year, was designed to recognize colleges that have been successful in creating great workplaces and to further research and understand the factors, dynamics and influences that have the most impact on organizational culture in higher education, according to the organization.
Survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institution questionnaire that captured employment data and workplace policies and practices from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators, maintenance and support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was employee feedback.
This year’s honor marks KCC’s fourth year of Great Colleges to Work For recognition; the College was also recognized in 2025, 2023 and 2022.
