Fourteen individual student-athletes from Kellogg Community College and two KCC athletic teams were honored this summer with postseason academic awards for excellence in the classroom.
Honors awarded to KCC student-athletes for their performance in the classroom during the 2014-15 academic year include:
- The Michigan Community College Athletic Association Academic All-Conference Award, for which a student-athlete must have completed at least 36 credits with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- The Academic All-MCCAA Award, for which a student-athlete must have completed 36 credits with a GPA of 3.20 or higher.
- The National Junior College Athletic Association Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement, for which a student-athlete must have completed 45 credits with a GPA between 3.60 and 3.79.
- The NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement, for which a student-athlete must have completed 45 credits with a GPA between 3.80 and 3.99.
Additionally, MCCAA All-Academic Team and NJCAA All-Academic Team honors were awarded to teams with an overall team GPA of 3.0 or higher. KCC’s baseball team was named to both lists, with a 3.34 team GPA that was the highest for a baseball team in the MCCAA and the NJCAA’s Region XII and the ninth highest in the nation for baseball teams in the NJCAA’s Division II. KCC’s softball team was named to both lists with a 3.21 team GPA.
