Kellogg Community College’s new series of “So You Want to Be a…” summer camps hopes to give kids some direction when deciding how to answer the question: What do you want to be when you grow up?
The new camp series for youth ages 10 through 14 offers participants the chance to experience and explore various interests across a wide variety of disciplines, from teaching to writing to criminal investigation and zoo keeping.
The series is proving a popular option among area summer campers. A number of the camps have already filled for the summer – including multiple sessions of cake decorating and chef camps – but there are still a limited number of spaces available in several others.
Camps with spaces still available include:
So You Want to Be a School Teacher
9 a.m. to noon Monday and Tuesday, July 8 and 9 ($40)
So You Want to Be a Writer
9 a.m. to noon Monday and Tuesday, July 15 and 16 ($40)
So You Want to Be a Social Media Star: Instagram and YouTube
1 to 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, July 15 and 16 ($40)
So You Want to Be a Chiropractor
1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 ($25)
So You Want to Be a Scientist
1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 7 and 8 ($40)
Campers interested in signing up for the writing and social media camps, which are offered on the same day, can do so at the reduced rate of $75 for both camps.

Registration can also be completed:
- By phone by calling KCC’s Lifelong Learning Department at 269-965-4134 and registering with a credit or debit card.
- In person at the Lifelong Learning office in room 305 of the Lane Thomas Building on KCC’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek.
KCC’s “So You Want to Be a…” camp series is one of several youth activities the College offers each year through its Bruin Youth Programming initiative. For information about additional youth camps and programming at KCC, visit www.kellogg.edu/youth.
Individuals interested in signing up for any of the camps are encouraged to do so as soon as possible, as spaces are limited and granted on a first come, first serve basis.
