The Kellogg Community College Foundation board of directors has named Andrew Schweitzer board chair for the 2019-20 academic year.
Schweitzer, president and CEO of Schweitzer, Inc., in Battle Creek, succeeds Kathy-Sue Vette, who retired from the board this summer after six years of service.
Andrew “Drew” Schweitzer is a 1996 graduate of Pennfield High School; he graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in Building and Construction Management in 2000. Schweitzer has been involved with Schweitzer, Inc., since 1994 and assumed the role of president and CEO in 2019.
Schweitzer is actively involved in the community and has served with area organizations in a variety of capacities, including on the boards of the Battle Creek Family YMCA and Binder Park Zoo; as a contributor to the J. Chris Schweitzer Scholarship Fund held at the Battle Creek Community Foundation; and in roles with the Labor Contract Negotiating Committee for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades and with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 525.
Schweitzer has been a member of the KCC Foundation board of directors since 2013. Serving on the board with him are President Mark O’Connell; Vice Chair Steve Claywell; Treasurer Richard Scott; Secretary Joseph Lopez; and directors Jill Booth, Matt Davis, Vivian Davis, John Dilworth, Adam Dingwall, Eric Greene, Dr. Joe Schwarz, Chad Smith, Erick Stewart and Catherine Yates.
Established in 1998, the mission of the KCC Foundation is to generate and encourage philanthropic giving and to manage funds exclusively for KCC to enhance the quality of education while building stronger communities.
