Two Kellogg Community College soccer players earned postseason National Junior College Athletic Association and Michigan Community College Athletic Association awards for their performance on the field this season.
KCC’s NJCAA and MCCAA postseason soccer award winners, announced late last month, include:
- Sophomore midfielder Rachel Bammer (East Leroy/Harper Creek High School), who started all six games for the Bruins this season, scoring one goal and adding an assist.
- Freshman goalkeeper Maya Ruelas (Kalamazoo/Home School), who had 92 saves this season for the Bruins, the second most in the team’s MCCAA conference and sixth highest in the country in the NJCAA’s Division II.
Both players earned NJCAA All-Region XII Second Team and Honorable Mention All-MCCAA honors.

KCC’s Bruins wrapped up the season in regular-season play in mid-May, finishing with a 1-5 record after COVID restrictions pushed fall play into the spring semester. This season is just the second women’s soccer season at KCC since 2013.
