Kellogg Community College women’s bowling freshman Rilee Cooper-Lewis finished first overall and the team finished in third place Friday, Feb. 4, at the Glen Oaks Community College Invitational in Three Rivers with an overall team score of 4,156. The first-place winner was Jackson College with a team score of 4,634.
The results place the Bruins third in the team’s Michigan Community College Athletic Association’s Western Conference.
Leading scorers for KCC were Cooper-Lewis (Quincy/Coldwater High School), who placed first overall with a series score of 614 and a high game score of 222; freshman Faith Grupczynski (Battle Creek/Pennfield High School), who placed fourth with a series score of 578 and a high game of 214; sophomore Kelsey Kipp (Battle Creek/Pennfield High School), who bowled a 207 game; freshman Emma O’Donnell (Battle Creek/Pennfield High School), who bowled a 203 game; and freshman Ella McCallister (Kalamazoo/Comstock High School), who bowled a 202 game.
Head KCC Bowling Coach Brad Morgan said the team looks forward to bowling at the conference finals and defending their home turf at M-66 Bowl this Friday.
“The Lady Bruins were led by Rilee Cooper-Lewis, who took home the high series award with a 614 series,” Morgan said. “The team had a strong singles set, placing them in second heading into Bakers. In Bakers the ladies struggled to find consistency and fell to third place.”
