Three Kellogg Community College Photography and Multimedia Program students have won awards for their work in the 2023 LAND Fine Arts Competition.

The annual LAND – Liberal Arts Network for Development – Fine Arts Competition is open to any student enrolled in a credit class at a public Michigan two-year college during the previous calendar year. The competition is designed to highlight work from community college level students in their first years of college education in the visual arts.

Submitted work must be sponsored by a reviewing faculty member who affirms its suitability for the contest and the appropriate level of competitive rigor for state-level competition. Each student is allowed up to two entries judged on originality, creativity, quality of concept, design and craftsmanship across categories including 2-Dimensional, 3-Dimensional, Photography or New Media.

KCC Photography and Multimedia Program students who won LAND awards in the 2023 competition include:

  • Michael Gilmore, of Battle Creek, who won first place in the Photography category for his photograph “Marquee and Sign” (pictured above)
  • Arianna Harris, of Battle Creek, who won an Honorable Mention award in the Photography category for her photograph “Shiny Baubles 1”
  • Gage Mingus, of Battle Creek, who won third place in the Photography category for his photograph “Trapped”

KCC offers more than a dozen Photography and Multimedia courses as well as program credentials including a Photography and Multimedia Certificate and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Photography and Multimedia. For more information about the program, visit kellogg.edu/photography.
