Black History Month events continue at Kellogg Community College Feb. 4 with a free lunch and learn event hosted by regional hip-hop artist, advocate and educator Ed Genesis.

KCC’s “Lunch ’n’ Learn with Ed Genesis” event will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, in the Kellogg Room on campus at 450 North Ave. in Battle Creek. The event will also be streamed live to the student lounges at KCC’s regional centers in Coldwater and Hastings.

Genesis, a longtime hip-hop artist based in Kalamazoo, will speak on the topic of “Social Justice Through a Hip-Hop Lens,” examining how the art form relates to social justice issues including racism, mass incarceration, class, violence and gender.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will include a light free lunch for those attending in the Kellogg Room. (Participants at the regional centers are encouraged to bring a lunch to enjoy during the presentation.)
