KCC hiring paid actors to pose as patients to help train Nursing students

Kellogg Community College is accepting applications for actors to pose as patients in educational settings to help train Nursing students.

KCC’s open Simulation Standardized Patient (SP) Actor position is open to “a trained individual who simulates a patient’s medical condition, emotional state and behavior in a consistent, realistic and scripted manner for clinical education and assessment activities,” according to the job description. “Working with nursing faculty and simulation staff, SPs support nursing students in developing communication, assessment and critical thinking skills in a controlled, supportive learning environment.”

The schedule is on-call as needed by the department’s simulation schedule, with a proposed salary of $20 per hour. Minimum qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong memory and ability to follow instructions consistently
  • Reliable, punctual and able to commit to scheduled shifts
  • Comfortable with role-playing and acting in front of small groups
  • Ability to give and receive feedback in a constructive and professional manner
