A new 40- by 60-foot auxiliary building designed primarily to support Welding training at Kellogg Community College’s Eastern Academic Center in Albion was completed in August. The new facility features 16-foot ceilings, overhead doors and six-inch reinforced concrete flooring to accommodate forklift and heavy equipment traffic.
EAC Director Chrissy Pfeil said the new building represents “an important investment in both our students and the region’s skilled workforce.”
“By expanding the physical capacity of the Welding Program at the EAC, the facility will allow us to serve more students, provide greater access to hands-on training, and better respond to continued demand for skilled welders in our communities,” Pfeil said. “The additional space will strengthen an already valuable career pathway by creating more opportunities for students to gain industry-relevant skills close to home.”
