Kellogg Community College proudly announces its 2026-27 Music Program season, “70 Years in Harmony: Honoring Our Legacy, Expanding Our Future.”
Music has been an integral part of KCC since the College’s founding in 1956, and this milestone season celebrates seven decades of musical excellence, education, performance and community engagement.
The 70th anniversary season honors the generations of students, alumni, faculty, staff and community musicians whose talent, dedication and support have shaped KCC’s musical tradition and helped it continue to thrive.
The 2026-27 season is especially significant as several KCC ensembles celebrate milestone anniversaries. The KCC choirs commemorate 70 years, representing a choral tradition that began alongside the College itself. The KCC Concert Band celebrates its 65th anniversary, while the KCC Jazz Band marks 50 years of music making. Additionally, the Branch County Community Chorus celebrates its 25th anniversary, recognizing a quarter-century of bringing singers and audiences together through the choral arts.
Together, these milestones reflect the enduring importance of music at KCC since its founding on Sept. 17, 1956, and celebrate the many generations of musicians who have contributed to the program’s artistic and educational legacy.
The Fall 2026 season opens Oct. 12 with “Let America Sing,” a special community-wide sing-along presented in partnership with the African American Collaborative. Held in recognition of America’s 250th anniversary, the event invites singers and community members to come together through music in a shared celebration of the diverse voices, traditions and experiences that are part of our American story.
The season continues with the KCC Concert Band’s “Origins and Foundation” Oct. 27, followed by the KCC Jazz Band’s “Anthems in Autumn” Nov. 8. December brings a festive series of performances featuring the KCC Concert Band’s “Light in the Dark” Dec. 1, the KCC Jazz Band’s “Ugly Sweater Swing” Dec. 4 and the KCC Choral Union’s annual “Sounds of the Season” holiday concert Dec. 6.
The celebration will continue through the Spring 2027 semester with additional Jazz Band and Concert Band performances on Feb. 14 and 28, respectively, and the Branch County Community Chorus “25th Anniversary Concert and Reception” on March 21.
A centerpiece of the season will be the “KCC 70th Anniversary Concert Celebration” on April 11, bringing together KCC bands and choirs in a special musical celebration honoring the College’s past, present and future with a reception sponsored by the KCC Foundation.
The anniversary season concludes with a Faculty/Guest Artist Recital April 24, a KCC Alumni Guest Artist Recital May 8 and the KCC Concert and Jazz bands’ collaborative concert “Forward and Beyond” May 9.
