The Kellogg Community College women’s basketball team held onto a lead as large as 42-16 at the half to defeat the women of Ancilla College 67-45 in Indiana Wednesday, bringing their Michigan Community Conference Athletic Association Western Conference record to an even 3-3 for the season so far.
Sophomore forward Janeesa Jamierson (Battle Creek Central) led the Bruins in scoring with 11 points, while two others — freshman guard Jackie Harwood (Sault Area) and sophomore guard Taylor Mainstone (Harper Creek) — also scored in double digits with 10 points each. Mainstone also pulled down six rebounds.
Freshman point guard Teonna Pope (Southeastern) had another big game for the Bruins, scoring eight with eight assists and seven steals.
The win brings the women’s overall record to 7-8 for the season so far. They play next beginning at 1 p.m. tomorrow against Jackson Community College at home at the Miller Gym on KCC’s North Avenue campus. Admission to the game is free.
