The Kellogg Community College men’s basketball team is in a tough spot as the season winds down, with wins absolutely necessary in the coming week if they hope to qualify for post-season play in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference District 9 championship tournament. Here are some stats from the team’s last two games.
Vs. GLEN OAKS COMMUNITY COLLEGE on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at home (LOST 68-95)
Sophomore guard Christian Covile (John Glenn) led the Bruins in scoring with 20 points, also adding eight rebounds and three steals. Freshman forward Nathan Taylor (Battle Creek Central) scored 19, adding nine rebounds and two assists.
Also contributing for the Bruins were sophomore guard Marlon Allen (North Farmington), who scored 10 with three assists and four steals; freshman guard Jalen Lamar (Comstock), who had eight rebounds and three steals; and sophomore center Henry Williams (Albion), who had two blocks.

Vs. MUSKEGON COMMUNITY COLLEGE on Saturday, Feb. 16, in Muskegon (LOST 57-81)
Taylor led the Bruins in scoring with 24 points, adding 19 rebounds for the double-double along with three assists and two blocks. Covile also had a double-double, scoring 14 and pulling down 10 rebounds in addition to grabbing two steals.
Also contributing for the Bruins were Allen, who scored 11 with two steals; Lamar, who had three assists and two steals; and Williams, who had two blocks.
THE RECORD SO FAR
The games give the Bruins a record of 4-9 in the MCCAA and a 7-18 overall record for the season so far, with just three games left in the regular season. The team plays next beginning at 7:30 p.m. tonight against Ancilla College at home in the Miller Gym on KCC’s North Avenue campus.
