Two dozen Kellogg Community Community College Upward Bound students volunteered at various Food Bank of South Central Michigan Fresh Food Initiative sites in Battle Creek recently, handing out fresh produce, dairy products and other food items to residents of low-income neighborhoods.
According to Dan Salerno, director of fund development at the Food Bank, close to 800,000 pounds of food were distributed to households in need through the FFI sites in Calhoun County last year alone.
