Kellogg Community College’s Branch County Community Chorus is accepting members for the 2014-15 performance season.
No auditions are required to join the BCCC, but members must register for the Community Chorus course MUSI 104 (for credit) or MUSI C104 (non-credit) prior to the group’s first rehearsal at an open house reception at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 27 E. Chicago St., Coldwater.
Rehearsals will be held at St. Mark’s from 6:30 to 9 p.m. every Tuesday through May.
Those who wish to join the BCCC will have a brief vocal placement assessment and interview with Dr. Gerald Blanchard, vocal music director at KCC, prior to the start of the rehearsal. Members must have a basic ability to match pitches and read musical notation.
For the upcoming season, Blanchard said all vocal parts are needed, but especially tenors and basses.
“If you are passionate about singing and want to join a group that embodies joy of spirit and a love for the vocal arts, then the Branch County Community Chorus is for you,” Blanchard said.
The choir’s 2014-15 concert season will include performances of Handel’s “Messiah,” Menotti’s Christmas opera “Amahl and the Night Visitors,” Haydn’s “Lord Nelson Mass” and Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Pirates of Penzance.”
