KCC baseball player Kyle Van Liere named Outstanding Male Scholar Athlete of the year

Kellogg Community College baseball player Kyle Van Liere has been selected as the College’s Outstanding Male Scholar Athlete for 2021.

The following is from the Athletics Department nomination of Van Liere for the award:

Kyle is a sophomore baseball player from Mattawan/Mattawan High School. Kyle is a second-year player for the Bruins baseball team. After three semesters at KCC, he has earned an impressive GPA while pursuing his Associate in General Studies degree. After KCC, Kyle is being recruited by multiple NCAA Division I schools to play baseball. When decided which school to attend, he will pursue a bachelor’s degree in business.

Kyle has been on the Dean’s and President’s List every semester at KCC. He is a current member of Phi Theta Kappa as a student at KCC. He also has received Academic All-Conference, All-MCCAA and NJCAA First Team Academic All-American honors for his classroom efforts.

Kyle has been involved in numerous community service projects with the baseball team, including serving through Bruins Give Back, mentoring disadvantaged youth at New Level Sports and volunteering at the Southwest Michigan Food Bank and the KCC Foundation Golf Outing.
