The women's volleyball team stands for the National Anthem before a home match.

Kellogg Community College’s women’s volleyball team fell to Glen Oaks Community College in three sets on Thursday, Oct. 21, at Glen Oaks Community College.

Scores per set were as follows:

  • Set 1: Glen Oaks 25, KCC 16
  • Set 2: Glen Oaks 25, KCC 15
  • Set 3: Glen Oaks 25, KCC 16

Leading the Bruins on the court were freshman Jenna Connors (Charlotte/Charlotte High School), who had 35 assists, two aces, five block assists and one solo block; sophomore Grace Hall (Battle Creek/Pennfield High School), who had 16 kills, two solo blocks, two digs and two aces; and freshman Abby Herman (Coldwater/Coldwater High School), who had 11 kills, six block assists and one ace.

Head KCC Volleyball Coach Tom VanWienen said even though they played well offensively, the Bruins were lacking some of their confidence and moxie that they had been building on in the last couple of weeks.

“The Lady Bruins lost in thee sets tonight to a very fired up GOCC team,” VanWienen said. “They did a great job tonight running their offense. They used their size at the net tonight very effectively, we just gave them too many second chances. Every time we got something going they answered it.”

The night’s results gave the Bruins a 2-9 record in the conference and a 3-18 record overall.
