KCC baseball wins first 2 home games of the season

Kellogg Community College’s baseball team came away with two victories over Glen Oaks Community College on March 22, defeating the college 9-5 and 6-4 in their first two home games at Baily Park in Battle Creek.

Batting leaders for the Bruins in game one were sophomore outfielder Andrew Fleming, who had two hits in three at-bats; and sophomore infielder Brett Schultz, who had two hits in four at-bats and accounted for two RBIs.

Batting leaders in game two were freshman outfielder Kody Carson, who had two hits in three at-bats, including a double; and sophomore pitcher/infielder Seth Szafranski, who was one-for-one at bat and also racked up a steal.

Sophomore pitcher Colton Loomis led the team from the mound in game one, striking out six in five innings. In game two, freshman pitcher Anthony Rolli pitched two innings, striking out one.

The Bruins next play at home at Bailey Park at 1 p.m. tomorrow, March 31, against Lansing Community College.
