KCC baseball defeats GRCC, LCC for 4-0 conference record

The Kellogg Community College baseball team defeated conference foe Grand Rapids Community College in both games of a double header last Thursday, March 28, in what marked the Bruins’ first home games of the season.

The Bruins won the first game 2-0, with right-hand sophomore Chad Mayle pitching seven innings and striking out seven for the win. Sophomore Trent Pell and Larsen Cronkright each had two hits in three at-bats with an RBI apiece.

Right-hand sophomore Travis Moore pitched two innings for the 5-4 win in game two, with Cronkright hitting two for two at the plate and freshman pitcher Keith Phillips hitting one-for-two with two RBIs.

The wins over GRCC and two wins over Lansing Community College on Saturday, March 30 — with scores of 11-4 and 16-1, respectively — put the Bruins in first place in their conference with a 4-0 record. The team plays next at 2 p.m. Tuesday against Muskegon Community College at home at Bailey Park in Battle Creek.
